The 'Brixham Orpheus Fuchsia'

In 1981 the Brixham Orpheus Mail Voice Choir were offered the rare honour and opportunity of allowing the choir's title to be used as the official name for a new variety of Fuchsia.

A leading grower from Reigate in Surrey is a specialist in producing Fuchsia plants and has propagated new varieties from time to time.

The flower, called 'Brixham Orpheus', was catalogued and registered world-wide. Naturally many examples of this special Fuchsia can be in Brixham and the Torbay surrounding area.

The original contact between the choir and the horticultural specialist was through Shirley and Don Thompson.
